€ Hostels

Rome lives and breathes on tourism, which makes for high-priced pillows. The good news is that with all of the competition, if you’re willing go forego the glamour the hostel scene has plenty to offer.

Alessandro Palace
Located on a quiet little street north of Termini, Alessandro Palace has a special place in the hearts of backpackers and budget travellers of all ages for its great dorm prices, very reasonable private room/bath options and overall clean and cosy feeling. The lounge/bar is a lively alternative for nightlife feet start dragging.

Pop Inn
Pop Inn is located off of a typically gritty train-station area street, but upstairs it feels more like a hippie’s dorm room. Plop down on the cushy couch in the TV lounge (plasma!) with a very young set of travellers. The atmosphere is so easygoing you might forget you’re not actually in a college apartment. Rooms are sparse and simple, with dorm-style and private (with shared bath) options.

Bed price: €16-31

The multi-floored structure offers everything from funky—and yes, very colourful—dorm-style bedrooms to a cute and recently rehabbed actual hotel space. There are kitchens, terraces, and various communal spaces scattered throughout the structure that lend it a family feel.
