Airports

Aeroporto Leonardo Da Vinci (Fiumicino)
The larger of the two major Rome airports, Fiumicino handles domestic and international overseas flights. It’s quite busy at all times and absolutely requires the two-hour early rule recommended for overseas travel. United States airlines and most US-bound flights now leave out of a new terminal (5), where you’ll experience long lines and extra security checks.
The most reliable transport option into town is the Leonardo Express train to/from Termini Station. Trains depart twice an hour and take roughly 40 minutes. €11. A cheaper option, regional train FM1 stops at several stations just outside the city centre including Trastevere and Ostiense, and costs €5.50 for a 45-minute ride. Trains depart every 20 minutes however they are subject to frequent delays and technical difficulties.

Ciampino
Ciampino is the Ryan Air and Easy Jet hub, and hosts mostly domestic and intra-European flights. It’s considerably smaller than Fiumicino, but can be understaffed and chaotic at times.
Budget airlines provide bus service to Termini Station. Otherwise, for €1 take a bus to Metro (A) station Anagnina and grab the metro into town.
